science blog, week of 9/14/O9

This week in science, we experimented with light. My partner and I went under the counter into the dark room and we could not see the sign, which means that in a room with no light, we can't see anything. This is important because now we know that we need light to see everything. This idea is important in the "real world" because now I know why I can see everything when there is light, and why I can't see very well when there isn't a lot of light.

This week I also learned how the red light from the laser pointer got to the wall. I pointed the laser to the wall and then clapped chalkboard erasers by it, and I could see the path of red light because the dust particles bounced off it. It's important to know how the light got to the wall, so we don't think that the light just magically appears on the wall. Also, in real life, this can help us when we see dust particles in the air when it's sunny.
